A common feature for all European jurisdictions is the national register where searches relating to real estate may be conducted. Preliminary contracts are often used, but mostly not required, whereas compulsory steps do exist in most countries to transfer the ownership title to the new owner. Applicable fees and taxes, proceedings to secure title and mortgage and restrictions to respect are also addressed in this booklet.
